Dear John,

The Klamath River restoration will be the biggest dam removal in history – but what does this mean for the people who call the river home?

Our new film, Guardians of the River, explores what river restoration will mean for clean water, food sovereignty and justice on the Klamath. Produced by Swiftwater Films, Guardians of the River highlights Indigenous leaders including Frankie Joe Myers, Vice Chair of the Yurok Tribe, Sammy Gensaw, director of Ancestral Guard, Barry McCovey, fisheries biologist with the Yurok Tribe, and members of the Ancestral Guard and Klamath Justice Coalition.

This is a powerful film. I hope it fires you up. I hope it inspires you to learn more about, and honor, Indigenous perspectives and stewardship of rivers. And I hope it inspires you to keep advocating for a healthy Klamath River, and for river restoration opportunities nationwide.

We are deeply grateful to the tribal members who shared their stories for this film, and we are grateful to all of you who support our river conservation work every day.
