On Friday, December 11th, 126 House Republicans signed their names to support the Trump-backed Texas lawsuit that sought to silence the voices of thousands of voters.
If this lawsuit had been successful, it would have violated the most basic principles of democracy, voiding votes simply because Republicans didn't like the outcome of the election.
If your Congressperson is a Republican, there's a good chance they signed on to undermine our election. Over 60% of House Republicans -- including minority leader Kevin McCarthy -- did so. Some even called for annulling the votes of their own constituents.
Thankfully, the Supreme Court threw out this baseless lawsuit. But we cannot ever forget that the majority of House Republicans are willing to sacrifice our democracy to get their way.
We founded Hold the House because we knew we couldn't take our Democratic House Majority for granted. The 2020 elections proved us right.
Republicans gained 10 House seats, and Democrats are now operating with the slimmest majority in decades.
Imagine if Republicans had won the Majority. Kevin McCarthy would be Speaker of the House, emboldened to use one of the most prominent, powerful positions in the country in his effort to undermine our election.
Right now, top political forecasters are predicting that Republicans have a strong chance to take back the House in 2022.
