Walmart to take middle-mile trucks driverless

Over the last few months, Walmart has been conducting tests of self-driving trucks in a partnership with Gatik. On Tuesday, the retailer announced that its Autonomous Box Trucks will go fully driverless along a two-mile test route in Bentonville, Ark., early next year. Also announced was an expansion of the operation, a pilot program of a 20-mile route for the driverless vehicles in Metairie, La.

Restaurants face a bleak winter with COVID-19

Just when restaurants were starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, winter arrived and COVID-19 cases surged. Many states that have reopened indoor dining are closing again, and many are struggling to provide outdoor dining due to the colder weather. This means that the layoffs and losses are likely not over yet. "We need to brace ourselves for an even worse period for the restaurant industry," said Andrew Rigie, executive director of the New York City Hospitality Alliance.
