We're Thinking of You

Dear John,

As 2020 comes to a close, we want to send heartfelt season’s greetings and thank you for being an important part of our Breastcancer.org community.

We know that this year has been filled with huge challenges for most of us. Amid the challenges of 2020 there has been hope too. We have found creative ways to connect, an ever-deepening appreciation for the people in our lives, and resiliency while facing unimaginable difficulties.

While we know none of this is easy, we hope you’ll find inspiration and comfort in some of our ideas from our recent webinar about managing cancer, COVID, and seasonal blues:

  • We encourage you to try to remember that what you are dealing with right now was once unknown to you, and you are adapting and getting through it.

  • Instead of feeling overwhelmed and thinking about the uncertainties of the new year, focus on being present. See if you can find moments to just be in the now.

  • If you are facing treatments alone, or if you can't be there with someone in person during their treatments, explore other ways to connect. Maybe start a letter writing ritual. Invite people close to you to send a handwritten letter to read while you’re at the doctor’s office so you feel their support in that moment. Or write a letter to others to share your feelings and gratitude for their support.

  • Be selective on how you spend your energy, and feel empowered to say "no" to obligations that are bringing you down. Ask for what you need!

  • Honor and accept your feelings. It’s okay to be joyful right now, and it’s okay to be sad — you can even be both at the same time.

There are more tips on Breastcancer.org for you or to share with the people in your life who need encouragement right now.

Please know that we continue to be here for you, and we wish you all the best this holiday season and in the new year ahead!

With gratitude,

CEO, Breastcancer.org
