Hello John,

We are part of CJA’s Philanthropic Organizing Committee and after talking
with our team, we wanted to share some reflections about this year with
you.

Despite crisis after crisis, we’ve seen WORKING- AND MIDDLE-CLASS DONORS
show up for climate justice!

* Our recurring monthly donor base has doubled since the beginning of the
pandemic.
* We saw more one-time donations in the month after the racial justice
uprisings began in Minneapolis this summer, than any other month in our
history.
* Countless people have been reaching out, asking how they can help
fundraise personally, with their work, or their art.

If you identify with this group, PLEASE KEEP UP YOUR UNCOMPROMISING
LEADERSHIP BY ASKING TWO PEOPLE YOU KNOW TO STEP UP AND BECOME RECURRING
DONORS TO CJA TODAY [3].

_Like so many others, this year started with our team coming together in
person, and ended with hours of video calls wrapping up a tenuous year. We
can't wait until it's safe to see you all again._

At the same time, our team has been working with many WEALTHY DONORS who
have pledged to give to this work over the long haul. But we’re also
hearing from folks who are struggling with analysis paralysis. So if
you’re still wondering what you should do, here’s the simple answer:
_move as much money and resources as possible to the frontline-led work in
the most impacted communities that have been providing the answers to the
injustices we face for decades. _

Here are a few ways to do that:

* Think of the largest gift you’re comfortable making in a year, stretch
it a little further, then commit to giving that much to Climate Justice
Alliance and at least one of our members [4] for the next three years.

* Leverage relationships you have in private foundations or corporations
to influence them to cede stolen wealth and power to frontline communities.
*To talk with someone about either of these ideas, reach out to our Donor
Relations Associate Mark Chavez at mark@climatejusticealliance.

This year we’ve seen CJA's supporters continue to stand in solidarity
with the grassroots by resourcing their work, even in the face of a
pandemic, racial justice uprisings, and climate catastrophes. The solutions
that you’ve helped invest in are a big part of what has kept our
communities going through everything. If you want to learn more about how
some of our communities have been addressing the unprecedented challenges
while making sure the process is just, equitable, and accountable – be
sure to check out this year’s Story Snapshots [5].

Thank you for reflecting with us, thank you for your dedication, and thank
you for being a part of this movement.

With gratitude,

_CJA’s Philanthropic Organizing Committee Members_
