We all faced incredible challenges this year -- a global pandemic, economic depression, national elections, and civil unrest. But we made it through with innovative initiatives and programs.

Here's what we accomplished this year:
  • Launched the American Muslims Elected and Appointed Officials Network. Conceived by MPAC and co-founded along with Illinois Muslim Civic Coalition and America Indivisible, AMEAON is the first initiative to connect American Muslim officials in local, state and federal government. With over 100 elected and appointed officials, our goal is to learn from one another and promote best practices and strategies for effective civic engagement. By uniting our voices, we are able to make a bigger impact for the Muslim community.

  • Continued to educate and empower American Muslims to be civically engaged. The 2020 election cycle was critical for our community. We needed to ensure that our voices were heard and that the community was ready and empowered to participate. We launched ‘A Tale of Two Futures’ this year to prepare our community for the elections in a variety of ways. We produced a one-of-a-kind analysis on each candidate, projected the next four years of GOP and DNC policies , and created voting guides for our community. We hosted town halls, candidates forums, debate debriefs and launched GOTV ad campaigns. Our ‘Every Vote Counts’ campaign was a micro-targeted ad campaign that reached 22,000 voters in the critical states of Georgia, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. By involving Muslims in civic engagement, we ensure that our voices are heard in DC.

  • Advocated for a human-centric approach to national security in our Campaign for Human Security. The ‘Campaign for Human Security’ is a multi-year legislative initiative that seeks to reappropriate government resources toward solving issues of human security, which constitutes the more people-centric aspects of national security. Through our campaign, we aim to shift our government’s approach to national security to focus on both people and nations. As part of this campaign, we have engaged Congressional offices, civil society, and other key stakeholders to push forward our legislative strategy. Drawing on our Islamic values of justice and equity, we are ensuring that we are pushing for inclusive legislative solutions.
As we look to 2021, we will have a new President with whom we have an existing relationship. This means we will have ample opportunities to engage and make inroads for Muslims in government and policy. Without you this would be an impossible task! Donate now to ensure that we can continue our mission to involve American Muslims in government and policy making.
