Trump's Department of the Interior plans to remove Endangered Species Act protections for gray wolves. Without these safeguards, gray wolf populations could decline across the country.
[link removed] ? SPEAK OUT [link removed] ? ? ? ? ? Only TWO DAYS left to act ? Gray wolves are just starting to recover, but their survival could be in jeopardy under Trump and Interior Secretary Bernhardt's new plan. Only 1,000 comments left to hit our goal ? [link removed]
The clock is ticking for gray wolves, friend. The official public comment period on Trump and Interior Secretary David Bernhardt's move to remove gray wolves from the Endangered Species List closes tomorrow, and according to our records, you haven't yet submitted a comment.
Here's where things stand: Bernhardt wants to gut Endangered Species Act (ESA) protections for gray wolves ? jeopardizing their survival and the ecosystems they're a part of. We could risk the entire species if Bernhardt's plan goes through.
Luckily, he can't move forward without getting public input. But time is running out for us to make sure our voices are heard. We only have a few more days left to reach our 30,000 goal and we're only 1,000 comments short. If everyone reading this message submitted a public comment, we'd blow through this goal in minutes. Can we count on you to add your name, friend?
WILDLIFE ALERT: Trump and Bernhardt are putting gray wolves on the line. Submit an official public comment now and be a hero for this species. Goal: 1,000 more comments ? [link removed]
Thanks to over-hunting and development, gray wolf populations have shrunk to approximately 6,000 wolves that occupy less than 20% of their historic habitat range. To help this iconic animal survive, gray wolves received ESA protections and have started to recover throughout the Rocky Mountain region and in Oregon, Washington, and California. But the species still has a long way to go. If Trump and Bernhardt succeed in removing their protections, we could lose all of that progress, and our ability to protect gray wolves from extinction could disappear. We should be doing more to support gray wolf recovery, not weakening the most basic protections that this species relies on.
I'm sure you're wondering, friend, who actually benefits from the rollback of these common-sense safeguards? The answer is simple: Trump and Bernhardt are catering to trophy hunters and trappers. They think this will be an easy win for the administration, but we cannot allow gray wolf populations to decline for the sake of hunting trophies.
There's hope: This will be one of the first acts that Bernhardt does as official head of the Interior Department. After his predecessor left in disgrace, the last thing he wants is to start his tenure at Interior with a major scandal. With the people power of LCV supporters like you, we can stop his attacks on gray wolves ? but only if we're loud enough. We're only 1,000 comments away from our goal ? will you submit your comment now, friend?
