Six months into the pandemic, 40 percent of parents with young children have experienced economic fallout
Four in 10 parents living with a child younger than 6 reported they or their family experienced a loss of employment or work-related income during the first six months of the pandemic. This economic turbulence can make it difficult for families to meet basic needs at a sensitive point in early child development.

Forty percent of Black and Hispanic school-age children are food insecure
And coinciding with high rates of food insecurity, the share of Hispanic/Latinx parents and Black parents who report being worried about having enough to eat in the next month is three times higher than the share of white parents (36.9 percent and 29.6 percent, respectively, compared with 9.6 percent).
