POLITICO: "In an interview with POLITICO's Women Rule, Whitmer said she was 'really surprised' when Biden, then the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, 'called and asked me to go through the process.'"

Apparently, Governor Whitmer, the progressive leader who became an icon due to her strength during the COVID response (and who far-right extremists once plotted to kidnap after Trump referred to her as "that woman from Michigan"), could soon be "that woman from Washington."

But Whitmer is playing coy, telling POLITICO, "we have had a conversation ... I've got a lot of work to do."

Even given her reluctance, Whitmer is serving as co-chair of Biden's inauguration committee -- possibly a sign that she's closer to a Cabinet position than she's letting on. We know jobs like these are often responsive to public opinion, which is why we want to get our finger on the pulse now -- will you tell us what you're thinking?
