Looking Back on 2020
I think that we can all agree that 2020 was a surprising and challenging year! Freedom Network USA met those challenges and evolved our work to meet the immediate needs of our staff, members, partners, and trafficking survivors.
As the pandemic struck, we established the FNUSA Human Trafficking Survivor Relief Fund which has given over 180 awards of emergency cash grants to survivors across the US. The Freedom Network Training Institute developed critical training materials to strengthen services and support for survivors, including hosting a series of Peer Support calls focused on remote services during the pandemic. These are available for free on our Resource Library ([link removed][UNIQID]) . We also managed to bring our stellar annual conference to the field after a quick transition to a virtual format. Registration ([link removed][UNIQID]) for the 2021 conference is now open! Finally, we continued to push back against disinformation, bad policies, and the failure of the US government to protect survivors throughout the year. You can search our Policy Library ([link removed][UNIQID]) for sign on letters, testimony, and more.
FNUSA continued to show up despite the challenges of 2020. I am grateful for the support and partnership of so many that made that possible. We're looking forward to new opportunities for advancing the interests of trafficking survivors in 2021! I hope you will join us.
I wish you and your loved ones a safe and happy holiday season.
Stand with Survivors Today
This past year has been extremely challenging for many human trafficking survivors. The health and economic crisis has driven many out of their jobs with no way to pay their rent and leaving many without food.
In addition to the Survivor Relief Fund, we have expanded our Survivor Reentry Project this year. This program focuses on criminal record relief for survivors of human trafficking and builds sustainable post-conviction representation practices across the country. Thanks to your support, FNUSA has given 29 survivors a chance at a new life. Your year-end gift today will help us continue these programs, and many others, that knock down the barriers to sustainable lives for human trafficking survivors.
