Unfortunately, more and more of us have stories like Sarah's.
Generation Progress

Hey John,

By now, you should be familiar with our Be A Climate Voter campaign—it’s where we call on folks like you and me to share why we were #ClimateVoters in the election and discuss how the climate crisis impacts us.

Today, I’m excited to share with you the powerful story of one #ClimateVoter, Sarah O’Brien. Sarah is a law student who was forced to evacuate from this fall’s devastating wildfires in Colorado. We worked with her to find ways to share her story more broadly and she penned an op-ed in The Denver Post discussing her evacuation, the use of toxic forever chemicals in wildfire suppression, and the need for effective disaster response.

READ SARAH'S STORY

Unfortunately, Sarah’s story is all too common. We’re all experiencing the impacts of the climate crisis, whether we are aware of it or not. Climate change is pushing us from our homes, impacting the decisions we’re able to make about our own lives, and affecting things as fundamental as our food systems.

Have you noticed the impacts of climate change in your own life? Has a loved one told you a similar story? Let us know at genprogress.org/climatevoter. We’re amplifying the stories of young people who have experienced the climate crisis first-hand in op-eds like Sarah’s and via other digital mediums.

After you share your story, tell three of your loved ones to do the same.
