 Nottingham and Nottinghamshire remain Tier 3
The government has announced that Nottingham and Nottinghamshire will remain in Tier 3 after re-assessing the tier system in the lead up to Christmas.

While this is clearly disappointing news for our businesses that had hoped to reopen in Tier 2, we understand the priority is to keep the city and its residents safe. Our current infection rates have been steadily falling and we would urge residents and businesses to continue in their efforts to drive infection rates down in Nottingham by washing your hands, wearing a face mask when in shops and crowded areas and maintaining social distancing when out and about.?
Business grants update
COVID-19 grants for businesses affected by Tier 2, Tier 3 and national lockdown closures are currently being paid to applicants, with around 80% of over 2,500 applications being paid so far. All applications are being processed as quickly as possible.?
We are now able to reopen the grant application process for eligible businesses who have not yet applied for Tier 2, Tier 3 and national lockdown grants which relates to the period up to 2 December 2020.?

- If you have already applied but not received payment yet, please do not apply again as we are processing these applications
New Tier 3 grants and grant for wet-led venues
The government has announced that grant support would be available for businesses who remain closed in December as Nottingham entered Tier 3 restrictions,?and an additional ?1,000 grant for wet-led venues.
These grants will be paid automatically to eligible businesses based on the information you have provided us with to date, so there is no need to reapply.
Our aim is to have all grants paid by w/c 21?December 2020.
Christmas Bubble - can I open?
We have received some questions and read online that there is some confusion as to whether the government's Christmas Bubble, from 23-27 December, means those businesses closed in Tier 3 can reopen during this period.?
We can clarify that the Christmas Bubble does not mean businesses can reopen during this period and must continue to follow the restrictions for their respective Tier arrangements. As Nottingham remains in Tier 3, this means businesses that are currently closed under these restrictions must remain closed.
Bold new plan plots a positive future for Nottingham?s economy post-COVID
A major new plan has been put forward by key partners in Nottingham for building a prosperous future for the city?s economy post-COVID which is green, digital, creative and inclusive.
The Nottingham Economic Recovery and Renewal Plan has been developed by the?Nottingham Growth Board, a partnership of key city businesses, educational institutions and public sector organisations; One Nottingham, the city?s Strategic Partnership; and Nottingham City Council.
Published for?consultation with local people and businesses, the plan sets out a bold vision to address the major economic challenges COVID has created or accelerated, including rising unemployment, the decline of high street retail and the disproportionate impact of the pandemic on young people, BAME communities, women, older people & people with disabilities.
