Dear John,
2020 has forced us to adapt as the world changes around us. COVID-19 may have slowed down our lives, but acute threats to equality and democracy in our country have sped up our demands for progress. From the impeachment hearings to Black Lives Matter marches, the pandemic to a new Supreme Court, and of course the election of our lifetimes, this was an unpredictable and exhausting year.
We are thankful to see light at the end of the long 2020 tunnel, and as we look back, there was one constant: our Sister District community. We were amazed by your unwavering support, your dedication to the fight to build progressive power in state legislatures, and your passion for saving our democracy.
So this holiday season, we are thankful for YOU – our network of more than 50,000 grassroots volunteers who know that it starts with states.
When we asked you to virtually phonebank, fundraise, and recruit new volunteers, you enthusiastically jumped on the opportunity to expand your teams and to organize remotely. From cocktail classes to virtual dance lessons, you welcomed Sister District into your homes. 2020 forced us to rearrange our lives, but it also reminded us that when you have a strong and compassionate team by your side, there is no challenge too tough.
We go into 2021 with hope. We are optimistic that a new administration will provide the care and economic relief our country needs. We are confident that our newly elected Sister District candidates will fight for policies to improve their communities. And, we are grateful that each of you will continue to stand by us in this fight for our democracy.
From our family to yours, Sister District wishes you a very safe and happy holiday.
- Rita, Lala, Gaby, Lyzz, and the entire Sister District Team
