We want to highlight what our COVID-19 work has looked like for some of our teams

Indivisibles,

Two days ago marked seven months since the House passed the Heroes Act. A month ago, the U.S. surpassed 250,000 deaths from COVID-19. And yet, still, Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans are more concerned with protecting their corporate donors who recklessly endanger employees and customers’ lives (it’s called a “corporate liability shield”) than providing real relief to the people who need it.

We’ve been hard at work for months pushing for a relief package that includes protections and assistance for people nationwide. And we’re fully expecting to continue fighting for a better pandemic response into the new year. So we’re going back to our congressional advocacy roots to ensure that progressive advocates both inside and outside Congress are building pressure to remove corporate immunity provisions and add direct stimulus payments.

All our work relies on grassroots support from people like you -- from the resources we build and the call scripts we write to help people pressure their representatives, to the digital tools we’ve built to empower our work this year. Can you donate $10 to power all our advocacy and support our work for a better pandemic response?

Our work on the COVID-19 pandemic has been ongoing for months, and we’ve had to pivot with the news and as the government response has taken shape. We want to highlight what that work has looked like for some of our teams:

  • Policy experts are busy tracking each new legislative development, analyzing our movement’s best chances to get the biggest wins for the most people, and helping develop strong advocacy plans to pressure those in office to put people over profits.

  • Our organizing team works directly with local activists nationwide to plug into advocacy efforts, keep their activities running effectively while shifting to virtual models, and ground their work in principles of equity and collective action.

  • The communications team updates our network -- whether through emails like this one, on Facebook or Twitter, or via text message -- on all the latest developments, getting opportunities to engage out to activists like you so we can multiply our impact.

All the time those folks and more are spending and all the tools they’re using to do the work take resources. We’re committed to refusing donations from corporations or political parties because we want to be representing the people -- YOU -- in everything we do. And that means we count on the people to make it possible. We know our work on the pandemic won’t end this year: donate $10 to hold Congress accountable, push forward COVID-19 relief, keep our work moving, and support everything we’ll do in 2021 to fight for a more progressive future.

This year has been a hard one -- for more reasons than we can count. But it’s also been inspiring, as through it all we’ve watched Indivisibles rise up and come together to fight for a better future. We can harness all that energy for truly unprecedented wins next year, and we’re thrilled to be able to do it alongside you. We’re eternally glad you’re a part of this movement.

In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
