During the last redistricting process, All On The Line didn't exist. In 2011, we didn't have a robust grassroots movement on the ground helping pass reforms leading up to the redistricting process or community members organizing folks in states like Georgia and Arizona. This time we do. And our work has completely rewritten the rules -- figuratively and in some cases literally -- of redistricting.
As we enter 2021, map drawing will soon begin. Will you make your first donation?

Recent headlines make it sound like redistricting is a lost cause. Some pundits, political analysts, and so-called experts are making predictions on the outcome of the 2021 redistricting process, but they're using outdated assumptions and rules.
So let me set the record straight: The redistricting process hasn’t started yet. No lines have been drawn. No maps exist. The cake’s not baked.
Thankfully, the success of our movement doesn't depend on what everyone else says. It depends on us. We knew electoral wins with the current gerrymandered maps would be an uphill battle -- that’s why we’ve been growing this grassroots movement. To achieve fair maps next year, we’re going to stick to our state-by-state grassroots strategy -- and block out the noise. We've proved the naysayers wrong before when this movement first started shepherding change. And we intend on doing it again.
We spent 2019 and 2020 building this movement. In 2021, we’re going to see the fruits of our labor to end map manipulation. And we’re going to do it with the same strategy we’ve had from the start: empowering this grassroots movement to make change in their communities. It may fly under the media radar, but this is a look at the ways we have been building.
→ We held over 250 events, trainings, and informational sessions in 2020.
→ All On The Line mobilized activists during the 2019 map redraw in North Carolina -- and then launched a first-of-its-kind leadership program for redistricting activists in the state.
→ Our movement is helping to lead redistricting coalitions in notoriously gerrymandered states like Ohio and Florida.
→ In the last few weeks alone, All On The Line volunteers have submitted letters to the editor to their local newspapers -- and 20 have already been published.
→ AOTL volunteers have sent more than a million text messages to community members across the nation.
The fight to end gerrymandering didn’t end after Election Day and the outcome of the maps wasn’t determined by the 2020 elections. Until the maps are drawn, we have a chance to make a difference -- but that means we need our movement to stay engaged.
We rely on grassroots donors to help us train and empower folks to become grassroots organizers in their communities. We are just weeks away from the first fair map fights of 2021 -- will you make a one-time donation of $21 to help us prepare?
Thank you for being part of this movement,
Saumya Narechania
