It’s disappointing and alarming that Erin O’Toole’s Conservatives are trying to ‘take Canada back’ with deeply divisive and far-right politics.
The Conservative Party hasn’t changed, friend.
In his parting words as Conservative leader just four months ago, this was Andrew Scheer’s message to his successor:
“Challenge the mainstream media. Don’t take the left-wing media narrative as fact. Please check out smart, independent, objective organizations like the Post Millennial, or True North.”
— Andrew Scheer
Erin O’Toole has taken him up on that divisive call to promote far-right politics. His own digital director served as Chief Marketing Officer for the ‘Post Millennial,’ and also launched the ‘Canada Proud’ third-party group with the “aim of taking down Trudeau” and to “defeat Liberals all over the country.”
And just this week, O’Toole granted an exclusive end-of-year interview to the far-right ‘True North Initiative,' which Now Toronto has described as an “anti-immigration, right-wing think tank."
Shortly after, in an apparent effort to callously downplay the horrors of residential schools, it was reported that O’Toole also told a group of young Conservatives that “Most of the lefty radicals are also the dumbest people at your university.”
It’s disappointing and alarming that Erin O’Toole’s Conservatives are trying to ‘take Canada back’ with deeply divisive and far-right politics. It’s a reminder of what’s at stake for Canadians in the weeks and months ahead, and it needs to be taken seriously.
Justin Trudeau and our Liberal team are focused on bold action to protect Canadians’ health, create new jobs, protect a clean environment, and build a more fair and inclusive Canada – but especially in a minority Parliament, we can never take our progress for granted. If you’re able, friend, will you chip in today to help us keep Canada moving forward?
Chip in now to reject divisive politics and support Justin Trudeau and our Liberal team – and help ensure we start 2021 strong.
