Hi John:
BREAKING NEWS: Congress is likely to finalize the details of a COVID relief package in the next few hours. The relief that domestic workers most need is on the chopping block if members of Congress don’t hear from us NOW. Email your elected officials right now and tell them to include crucial relief for domestic workers in this package.
Families are facing widespread financial insecurity, yet leaders in Congress are considering passing relief WITHOUT another round of cash assistance. Home care workers have risked their health throughout the pandemic to provide essential services, yet they have been left without PPE or hazard pay. Tell Congress that COVID relief must meet the critical needs of essential workers and their families by including another round of cash assistance for all families, including immigrant families, and an investment in home and community-based services.
Millions of workers are struggling to pay the rent and keep food on the table. Things will only get worse if Congress doesn’t take immediate action. We need a relief package now that invests in a care infrastructure built around families, consumers, and workers that will fuel the growth of our economy.
Federal inaction during the pandemic has been especially devastating to women -- particularly Black, Latinx, and other workers of color -- who have been hit hardest during this crisis, and immigrant workers, who were cruelly excluded from federal relief packages. Take action TODAY and tell Congress to pass a COVID relief package that invests in care.
We have the opportunity to turn the tables and use this crisis to make long-overdue investments to build back a stronger, more equitable care system. A relief package that includes domestic workers is the first step. Congress needs to hear from you TODAY that now is the time for them to finally step up, do what's right, and deliver COVID relief to workers, their families, and for all of us.
Thanks for all that you do,
Alana Eichner, Senior Manager of Federal Policy Campaigns
