COVID-19 Vaccine Update

We know that everyone is curious about the new COVID-19 vaccination, that's why we thought it would be important to include an update about when the vaccine will reach us here in Colorado.

As many of you already know a version of the vaccination has been rolled out in parts of the U.K. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) here in the U.S. has approved a vaccine developed by the pharmaceutical company Pfizer for emergency use. A limited amount of that vaccine was distributed to Colorado on December 14th. The amount of vaccines available to Colorado will be extremely limited for the first few months. Because of this the state has developed a plan to vaccinate the highest risk populations first. That includes mainly health care workers who are directly in contact with COVID-19 positive patients and other employees who work in long term care facilities and correctional institutions.

We are all VERY relieved that a safe and effective vaccine is finally reaching us, but while we have limited capacity to vaccinate we must still follow ALL public health guidelines including wearing masks, staying home whenever possible, and maintaining a safe social distance from others. If you want to learn more about how the vaccine is currently being distributed and when you might be eligible to receive one please visithttps://covid19.colorado.gov/vaccine
