Friends,
“Governor Kemp is Stacey Abrams and that is despicable.”
This is a real thing that White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said in one of the administration’s many attempts at smearing the Georgia governor after he refused to overturn the election results.
The statement was made in reference to “a legal settlement that Trump and his allies have falsely claimed prevents the verification of ballot signatures,” the Hill notes.
McEnany might’ve meant to disparage both Stacey Abrams and Governor Kemp in one fell swoop, but we know that such ridiculous statements won’t hinder the work either leader is doing to ensure the integrity of our democracy. As the Georgia runoffs approach, there’s only one thing on their (and our) radar: Turning out Georgia voters so that we flip the Senate on January 5.
The team at ASPIRE is committed to supporting progressive leaders of color and protecting our democratic process from the forces that threaten it -- but we can’t fight against this kind of evil if we’re not at our strongest, and right now, we’re running low on funds. In fact, we’re $1,702 short of our grassroots fundraising goal.
