Not only are Canadians donating less than ever before – Americans are donating nearly four times what we are!
In fact, the number of Canadians donating to charity — as a percentage of all tax filers — is at the lowest point in the past 18 years.
The new Fraser Institute study also finds that 19.4% of Canadians claimed charitable donations on their tax return in 2018 (the most recent year of available data) compared to 25.5% back in 2000.
