Dear John,

Most of us love a good holiday dinner, whether it's a homecooked meal, hitting up a trendy new restaurant, or ordering your favorite takeout. This holiday season, we want to highlight the folks who make it possible for us to have our favorite holiday foods and all those scrumptious side dishes. We are so deeply thankful and stand alongside the meatpacking, poultry, and farmworkers, who–despite an even more dangerous workplace due to the pandemic–continue to ensure we have food on our tables. Now, these workers are ramping up to meet demands for the holidays, and face even greater pressures than before.
 

It's vitally important we protect these vulnerable workers–and their families. It's why we launched the Always Essential campaign, to highlight what our essential workers need–
 not only during the pandemic–but always. We're fighting alongside essential workers to help them secure hazard pay, increased health protections, and ultimately to get more farm and meatpacking workers in positions where they can negotiate their own workplace standards.

This year, Jobs With Justice also launched the Worker Solidarity Fund. As the pandemic unfolded, the Worker Solidarity Fund helped get urgent cash relief into the hands of working people, in highly impacted sectors like retail, food service, hospitality, health care, and more. 

Next year, we have plans to create new pathways that strengthens and grows worker power, whether it's protecting essential workers, supporting migrant workers, or providing direct relief to the working people most in need. Jobs With Justice and our network are paving the way to build a better future for working people everywhere.
