Friend, As I reflect on the year, I am remembering what one leader shared about their family, “Peace is knowing my parents will not be deported.” This summer LA RED hosted a listening campaign across Faith in Action’s network. We trained 60 immigrant organizers and grassroots members to facilitate sessions in their communities, conducted 100 sessions in 13 states and the District of Columbia. 715 immigrant grassroots leaders participated in the campaign. To share what we learned, we wrote a report titled, “Our Stories, Our Futures: The Voices of Immigrant Communities.” Immigrant people across the nation longed for freedom and belonging in the United States. We imagined a world where all people are free to travel, work, study, and plan ahead for their families with peace and free from fear. And above all, people expressed deep longing for a world in which their families were permanently together and safe. |
