This year has gone differently than any of us planned, but MediaJustice is also celebrating the strength and resilience of our community. Together, we have provided critical support to communities across the country, maintained pressure for government and corporate accountability, and invested in the sustainability of our movement. We hope you will celebrate with us!
In response to the Spring 2020 uprisings, we announced the MJ Agenda for Black Lives, and collected 108,878 signatures demanding Congress #ProtectBlackDissent
We gathered more than 1750 advocates to demand that Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube #StopCOVID19Hate online
As part of the Disinformation Defense League, MJ organized 13 digital actions, trainings, and online events for MJ Network members and partners during our Week of Action Against Disinformation
We successfully launched Mapping Pretrial Injustice, the first-ever community-driven database to track pretrial risk assessment across the country, and the #BreakUpWithAmazon campaign to break down police-corporate relationships quietly gaining strength
Through our MJ Action Fund, we disbursed more than $60,000 in rapid relief response funds to ensure they could keep the lights on, pivot services to virtual formats, and keep engaging in campaigns. We responded to community organizing needs by producing a Defend Our Movements training series to increase digital safety capacity and analysis. We also said goodbye to movement leaders Rahwa Habte, Elandria Williams, and Drake Logan.
We know you support organizations making a tangible difference, and MediaJustice thanks you for the signatures, calls, and donations which have made these victories possible.
