Our public lands are at risk. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) plans to offer thousands of acres of land in Montana for oil and gas leasing. Take action to stop it from selling off our public lands.
This lease sale would allow the land to be exploited for oil and gas development. It could destroy habitats for threatened wildlife like elk and mule deer.
Protecting sensitive lands from oil and gas activity is essential to protecting wildlife -- and we need your help. Will you send a comment now to stop oil and gas leasing in Montana?
Demand the Bureau of Land Management stop the lease sale in Montana and protect threatened wildlife.
Big Oil and Gas does more than just devastate wildlife. It pollutes the water and air, which could compromise the health of local communities.
The extracted wastewater from fracking can be radioactive and its disposal through injection wells has proven to increase earthquakes. Exposure to fracking has been linked to numerous health issues, ranging from heart problems to childhood leukemia.
The decision for the BLM to move forward with this lease sale while communities are still grappling with the global pandemic is reckless and irresponsible. We need you to take action to demand it cancel the lease sale to protect people and the planet.

If the fossil fuel industry is allowed to drill on these Montana lands, the impact on people and the environment will extend far beyond the state border. It will add to the climate crisis, when we are already less than 10 years away from catastrophe.
To avert the worst impacts of climate change, the biggest thing we can do is keep fossil fuels in the ground. There is no excuse for leasing public lands to the fossil fuel industry rather than transitioning to clean, just, renewable energy.
