E-scooter at Victoria Embankment
How's the e-scooter trial going?

You may have noticed the bright yellow electric scooters on our streets - we now have nearly 250 in the city since the launch of the e-scooter rental trial in late October.

The e-scooters offer a fun new greener travel option for travelling short distances. With operator Wind Mobility, we're testing them for 12 months to see how they work.

We've had a really positive response to the trial so far - more than 5,000 people have used them so far, on over 46,000 rides! But we know there have been some issues too - a review of the trial so far [ [link removed] ]is available on our website.

Calls for HS2 Eastern Leg to be delivered in full

City Councillors have called on the Government to deliver HS2 in full, as promised, following the publication this week of a report suggesting the Eastern Leg terminates at East Midlands Parkway.

Council Leader Cllr David Mellen said this would put 'a huge dent in the proposed development around Toton,' which was forecast to bring much-needed jobs and investment to the area.

Portfolio Holder for Strategic Transport, Cllr Rebecca Langton, said fulfilling the commitment to deliver the scheme in full would be 'a step toward rebalancing investment in our underfunded region.'

Funding boost for walking and cycling

We've successfully bid for a further 2 million to spend on measures that make it easier for people to walk or cycle.

The funding follows the award of 570,000 in June, which saw the introduction of a number oftrial measures [ [link removed] ], including pop up cycle lanes, low traffic neighbourhoods, and car-free school streets.

We also gave 165 free bikes to key workers and people on low incomes, as part of schemes designed to make it easier, safer and more attractive for people to walk or cycle.

Councillor Adele Williams, Portfolio Holder for Transport, said: This is so important as we work toward a greener recovery from Covid, not just in terms of reducing unnecessary car journeys and better air quality, but also for the benefits more active travel can bring to both the physical and mental wellbeing of our communities." Putting businesses in the driving seat
Electric Van Experience

In November we launched our latest business support initiative, giving businesses the chance to try a electric van!

Around 50 vans will be available for any size of business, public or voluntary organisation operating in the city to try for up to three months, as part of our Electric Van Experience (EVE).

Funded by Highways England and delivered as part of our Workplace Travel Service, EVE will enable businesses to see how making the switch to electric vans could be the right move financially and environmentally.Read more... [ [link removed] ]

Making travel easier with Robin Hood Card improvements

*Top up wherever you are with the Robin Hood Ticketing app!*

Using the new Robin Hood Ticketing app you can now top up your Pay As You Go (PAYG) Card wherever you are - no need to visit a ticket machine!

Robin Hood Cards can be used to pay for travel on most bus, tram and train operators across the city, with a capped daily price on PAYG cards, and great savings on season products.

We're ready for winter weather

NottinghamCity Council is working hard to keep Nottingham safe [ [link removed] ] and get you where you need to be in winter weather.

Our teams are ready with:


* Our seven 17-tonne gritting trucks
* 3000 tonnes of grit
* 200 grit bins in priority locations

We grit 445km of Nottinghams roads every wintry night our top priority is keeping the city moving, especially those routes used by the emergency services and public transport.

The busiest roads are gritted first the ones people use to get to schools, workplaces and hospitals.

You can use grits from one of our 200 grit bins to grit the pavement on your street, or use ordinary table salt on steps and paths.

We have around 200 yellow grit bins placed around the city, sited in places with steep slopes or in areas that are particularly exposed to the elements.
