Make A Holiday Gift

When I first visited The Center years ago, I was so nervous that I didn’t talk to anyone. Despite my anxiety, I kept coming back because I knew I could find community there and was determined to interact with queer people in a way I never thought I could. I was right―I’ve found a space where I can express myself and live unapologetically.

The Center is a place where queer people are encouraged to achieve their goals. In fact, I now work remotely for Center Youth as a peer counselor. I provide an ear for young people who need someone to talk to and support for them to maintain a sober and drug-free lifestyle. I am so grateful for a role that enables me to be an activist.

Activism is built on hope―the belief that change can happen if it is fought for. As is evident from its history, The Center is a space for trendsetting activism. The LGBTQ community has persevered through decades of struggle, which in a way means our community is built on hope. I remind myself that our current circumstances may be tough, but they will not last forever. We are united and strong, and we’ll make it to a better tomorrow.

Warmly,

Justin
