Thanks to you, we stood up for our democracy and said four years of Donald Trump as president was more than enough. But given the Republican Party’s response to Joe Biden’s victory, we have an uphill battle ahead of us in 2021.
Removing Trump from office was a critical step in saving our country, but the extremism Trump embodied still remains here in Washington. More than 100 Republican members of Congress went against the will of the people this month by supporting a bogus legal challenge asking the Supreme Court to throw out the votes of millions of Americans.
Even now that the Electoral College has (for what feels like the millionth time) confirmed President-elect Biden’s victory, there are still Republicans in Congress who refuse to face the facts and admit the truth. It’s shameful, unpatriotic, and unlike anything we’ve ever seen before.
We may have won the White House, but Trumpism remains in both the House and Senate, and it’s up to us to keep standing with Adam to defend our democratic values and make progress.
We’re preparing for 2021 as we speak, but to be honest, grassroots fundraising has been rough this month, and we face our very last mid-month deadline of the year tonight at midnight.
If we’re going to pass more pandemic relief along with universal health care, a $15 minimum wage, commonsense gun reform, and bold action on climate change into law, we’ll need resources to put up a big fight against Mitch McConnell and the right.
