Hi John,

Right now, there are powerful companies out there who aren't interested in the future of our planet. Instead, they're happy to carry on polluting -- all in the name of making a quick profit.

But we have a way to stop them.

Every day, Greenpeace’s team of specialist investigators are working hard to expose environmental destruction. Sometimes, they even work undercover to shine a light on what goes on in secret.

Here’s the problem though. If we’re going to grow our investigations work, we need 1,032 people to sign up with a monthly contribution to fund our work next year.

Hitting our funding target is the last thing big polluters want to see -- as it would mean more investigations into their bad behaviour, exposing more of their environmental crimes. But that's exactly why I'm hoping you can chip in:

Having worked here at Greenpeace for several years, I’ve seen first-hand how our investigations team is so crucial in how we win.

This year, a Greenpeace investigation uncovered details of pesticides being made here in the UK and shipped abroad for spraying on farms in other countries – even though they are so toxic they have been banned from use in UK fields. [1]

After months of painstaking research, Greenpeace’s Unearthed team took on the multi-billion pound industry and got the story featured in the top news outlets. And then, within a matter of weeks, the European Commission committed to banning these exports. [2]

Imagine if our investigators put down their pens and gave up. Imagine if they stopped holding these companies to account.

As Greenpeace doesn’t take donations from big business or political parties, it means we rely on individuals giving what they can to fund this work. So I really do mean it when I say that every single pound chipped in makes a difference. Can you give a few pounds a month to fund more investigations like this in 2021?

Greenpeace is about everyday people coming together to protect our planet. And I’m proud to say that, since the day we were formed back in the 1970s, we truly have made a difference.

As we look ahead to 2021, my hope is that in the coming year we'll grow even stronger still, securing even more victories for our planet together.

With all my thanks,

Karen Rothwell

Fundraising Director, Greenpeace UK
