After a period of intense speculation, Pete Buttigieg has been nominated for Secretary of Transportation. Not only is Mayor Pete immensely qualified for his new job, he would be the first LGBTQ+ Cabinet secretary to ever be approved by the U.S. Senate.
After we heard through the grapevine that Mayor Pete was being considered for UN Ambassador, President-elect Joe Biden announced Louisiana native Linda Thomas-Greenfield for the role. But positions in departments like Commerce and Transportation were still on the table -- and his supporters rallied hard.
Buttigieg was a stalwart champion for Biden on the campaign trail, stumping for the president-elect at rallies and even going onto Fox News to spar with Republicans on their own turf. We’re confident that Buttigieg will use his experience in urban affairs to be a very effective Transportation Secretary and oversee the progressive investment in infrastructure that we so desperately need.
We here at Progressive Majority couldn’t be more thrilled about this announcement, but we don't know what our supporters want yet. Could you make your voice heard by weighing in on the next administration now? Tell us:
