Day 6: Making Taxes Easier to Pass

Hello,

Most taxes are passed with a 2/3 vote. But taxes are much easier to pass when you get to pick the voters most willing to vote yes.

That's exactly the how Democrats plan to circumvent the 2/3 requirements

Making the list on Day 6 of our Ten Days of Vetos, is AB 1413

AB 1413 would permit agencies to remove areas of voters from voting on tax increases

The goal is obvious, to make it easier to pass local sales taxes. The affect is that it raises taxes on people without everyone having an opportunity to vote on them. Democrats argue that only communities that have the opportunity to vote on the tax will pay the new tax. But that assumes voters outside these carved out communities don't eat, shop or visit the areas being taxed. They must assume that no one outside a city commutes or visits inside the city.

Is this the worst bill the Democrat controlled Legislature has passed?
