John -- Millions have been relying on the federal eviction moratorium to keep a roof over their head during this pandemic. It’s set to end this month and with no plan of extension in sight, America is on the verge of the largest housing crisis in our nation's history. 

Congresswoman-elect Cori Bush knows exactly what eviction can do to a family having lived unhoused with two small children because of it. That’s why she is speaking out and sounding the alarms of what it would mean for our country to experience mass eviction. That’s why she and our coalition at Brand New Congress are demanding an extension on the eviction moratorium and continuation of rental forgiveness. 

In 2022, we must elect more leaders like Cori who will fight for more equitable housing practices and believe housing is a right. Contributing $3 today will help us to achieve that.

With relief discussions underway, it is clear that Congress intends to offer gold status bailout to big corporations, breadcrumbs for regular working people and completely ignore those experiencing homeslessness. If this pandemic has shown us anything, it’s that we must guarantee housing as a right. Until we achieve that vision, Congress has a responsibility to do the right thing and stop mass eviction from occurring. 

The decision to end the moratorium during this pandemic is irresponsible and inhumane and the consequences would be deadly.
