Dear John:

When I started my run for NYC Comptroller, we made a bet: We could run a fully grassroots-powered campaign, with small-dollar donors matched by public financing, and compete citywide in New York City.

Today, that bet paid off! After receiving the first disbursement of public matching funds for the 2021 primary, our campaign has the most funding, the most matchable contributions, and the most individual donors of any candidate in the race.

Together, our team of more than 3,000 grassroots supporters is sending a strong message: You don’t have to be beholden to big donors or corporate interests to run a competitive, well-funded, citywide campaign in New York City.

But we can’t win this campaign with money alone -- we’re also building a powerful grassroots team of volunteers across the city. Please join me tonight for a special volunteer kickoff call at 6 PM → [[link removed]]

Today, our campaign received $2.3 million in public matching funds after earning matchable contributions from more than 3,000 New Yorkers.

Thanks to you, we are well on our way to having the funds needed to make sure voters across New York City hear our message of putting people before profit and our long-term well-being over short-term, petty politics.

And there’s more -- our team is growing! Last week, nearly two dozen progressive women, including Cynthia Nixon, Ruth Messinger, and Council Members Margaret Chin and Debi Rose voiced support for the campaign last week. State Senator Andrew Gounardes and Council Member Justin Brannan added their endorsements today.

But we’re not taking anything for granted. Three high-profile opponents officially launched their campaigns in the last few weeks, and AOC’s Wall Street-funded primary challenger is still considering a run.

People-power got us to this point, and people-power will take us over the top in this close, high-stakes race. Please join us for a volunteer call tonight at 6 PM, and learn how we can all play a part in bringing progressive leadership to the office of the NYC Comptroller → [[link removed]]

Thank you so much for your support,

-- Brad
