I am pleased to announce that Marcy Mistrett will be joining The Sentencing Project as a Senior Fellow in our youth justice program. Marcy is the CEO of Campaign for Youth Justice (CFYJ), a national initiative created to end the prosecution, sentencing and incarceration of children in the adult criminal justice system. Under Marcy’s leadership, CFYJ has helped drop the number of youth in the adult system by more than 70%!

After 15 years, CFYJ is closing on December 31, 2020. However, the vital work of keeping children out of the adult criminal justice system will continue on at The Sentencing Project. Our work is not done until there are no children in adult prisons and jails anywhere in this country. We are excited to work with Marcy to continue the legacy of CFYJ and expand our impact on behalf of youth.

Your support as we welcome Marcy will aid this transition and the fight for youth justice. Please consider making a donation to help The Sentencing Project:

  • End the charging, sentencing and incarceration of youth as adults
  • Ensure that the Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention Act is fully funded and implemented, including removing youth from adult jails
  • Promote investment in racial justice to address the disproportionate number of youth of color transferred to the adult system

Thank you for your support,

Amy
