We didn’t want to have to send this email, John, but we fell short of Sunday’s critical $750,000 fundraising goal. If we don’t make up the difference, we won’t have enough resources to expand our work to protect children from gun violence next year – and we just can’t accept that.
It’s critical we reach every single goal to prevent more tragedies. Too many families already mark time as “before” and “after” their loved one was killed by gun violence.
Yesterday marked eight years of us living and breathing that pain every day. We will never hear our children and loved ones laugh again. We will never be able to hug or kiss them just one more time.
We don’t want any other families to feel this unending pain – which is why we must close our funding gap by midnight tonight. Please, will you give as much as you can right now to help us protect more children from gun violence?
The heartbreak of Dec. 14, 2012, never ends. No matter how many years pass, we feel it every waking and sleeping moment of our lives. It’s excruciating to mark eight long, desolate years without our children and loved ones – but we have to keep pushing forward. We know gun violence is preventable. We must help prevent it.
So while our hearts are forever broken, our spirits never will be. We will never, ever give up on creating a safer world for all of our children. Your support will help us do that, and we're so grateful.
Thank you,
Sandy Hook Promise
