This book is about all of us

Hey Indivisibles,

Leah here!

Ezra (my husband-slash-Co-Executive Director) emailed you on Tuesday about the project we’ve been working on this summer: we wrote a book! While we were doing this, I learned something really important -- writing a book is HARD. All those authors who say how much work goes into their writing? Turns out they weren’t kidding.

Seriously, I am so excited that Ezra and I survived writing this book. But now that the release is just a few months away (election day of this year!), I’m even more excited to share it with all of you!

This book isn’t about me and Ezra (truly, it would be pretty boring if it were). It’s about every Indivisible, and all the amazing things we’ve done together in less than three years. Thinking about what Indivisible has meant to us, and hearing about what it means to you, really hit home for me.

Ezra and I never imagined, when we opened Google Docs after an upsetting election, that a movement like this would come out of it. And we’re inspired every day by everything Indivisibles do. That’s why 100% of the proceeds of our book are going right back into Indivisible’s Save Democracy Fund so we can keep working to build a better democracy in 2021 and beyond.

Now, one thing I’ve learned during this process is just how important preorders are. I thought the only reason to preorder a book was to make sure you’d have it as soon as possible, and maybe to be able to show it off to your friends (-cough- Harry Potter -cough-). But it turns out that preorders are also a big part of how the New York Times determines its bestseller list. Getting on there is one of the best ways to get our book as much coverage and promotion as possible and get it into as many hands as we can. And more coverage and promotion means we’re able to bring more people into our movement.

Click here to preorder a copy of the book (you can find a couple booksellers listed along the top of the page.) Or call your local bookshop and ask them to order you a copy!

This book is a reflection on what we’ve learned from the last 2+ years, but it’s also a blueprint for where we want to go and the kind of democracy we want to build. That’s why we want to make sure that it gets out there, not just to active Indivisibles but to everyone who’s looking for a way to fight for a better future. Preordering (and sharing with friends and family) is the best way you can help us make that happen. If you’ve already preordered, thank you! If you haven’t, what are you waiting for?

In solidarity,
Leah

P.S. -- Another thing I’ve learned with this process is that the price of books varies a lot. We got a lot of replies after Ezra’s email asking how much the book costs and the true answer is: it depends! Generally the hardcover is around $27 and the e-book is less, but it depends on which bookseller you get it from. :)
