Dear friend,

I was 20 years old when my lawyer sat me down and told me the news. I'd been offered a plea deal for the drug charges I was facing: 30 years in federal prison—ten years longer than I'd been alive.

My name is Quentin Burt. In July, I came home on compassionate release thanks to the changes in federal law that FAMM advocated. Now, I’m working with them to fight for the many people still serving lengthy prison sentences, despite having turned their lives around.

Will you make a contribution to FAMM to help us fight for their safety and freedom? As COVID-19 spreads unchecked through prisons, they're at risk just like I was. [link removed] [[link removed]]

I was a new dad to two girls when I was convicted. It devastated me to be apart from my children—I knew that I had taken the wrong path, and I was determined to turn my life around.

So, I earned an associate's degree and completed more than 4,100 hours of programming. I went to local middle and high schools through a prison program to share my experience with young people and explain the importance of making good decisions. I called my daughters often and did my best to encourage them, even when I was feeling down. And I survived prison because my family and faith gave me hope and perspective, but I know not everyone is as lucky as I was.

There are so many people still behind bars who are just like me, and they need us to fight for them. Will you make a gift to FAMM to show them they're not forgotten? [link removed] [[link removed]]

When I was incarcerated, there was no way for me and the people I was locked up with to reach Congress, but FAMM was our voice. I'm glad to be on the other side of my sentence so I can join them, and I hope you'll join us, too.

Sincerely,

Quentin Burt for FAMM
