| John, The survival of our strong public transit systems is at stake! Today is a nationwide day of engagement to #SavePublicTransit. Advocates around the country from Voices for Public Transit and many other organizations are posting on social media and sending emails to tell Congress to provide at least $32 billion in emergency funding to ensure that America’s public transit systems can survive the COVID-19 pandemic. Here’s how you can help: The majority of U.S. public transit systems say they will have to cut service and furlough employees without emergency support. Many systems have already been forced to make cuts. Public transportation serves a critical role in our nation’s response to COVID-19. Transit systems enable essential healthcare, grocery, and utility employees to reach work and help our communities. Congress must help our nation by providing emergency funding before they adjourn for the year. Please raise your voice on social media and urge others to get involved as well. Let’s unite to #SavePublicTransit today! Thank you, Chad Chitwood Voices for Public Transit Community Coordinator |
