Help Stop Animal Testing!
Dear Friend, There is a desolate, terrifying place where sickly, frightened dogs are cowering in barren metal cages … where they suffer from swollen tongues and weakened jaw muscles that make it difficult for them to swallow even the thinnest gruel … where dogs with a painful canine form of muscular dystrophy (MD) struggle to walk, eat, or sometimes even breathe. This nightmare has been playing out in laboratories for 38 long years—and at Texas A&M University (TAMU) since 2012. Can you imagine how terrified any dog would feel trapped in a torture chamber like this? The good news is that PETA's campaign to shut down this laboratory has already sent TAMU's administrators reeling. But we must not give in one bit until no dogs are suffering there. Friend, will you help PETA stop this misery by making a gift to our "Stop Animal Testing" Challenge right now? Your gift today—even as little as $5—will be matched dollar for dollar, going twice as far to help us. Please, help us reach our $500,000 goal by October 31! Despite decades of these experiments, there's still no sign of a cure—or even a treatment—to reverse the devastating symptoms of MD in humans. Since PETA first revealed the suffering of dogs at TAMU, compassionate people have flooded the university with e-mails and phone calls demanding an end to these awful experiments and the immediate release of the dozens of dogs held captive there—and our determined pressure is now paying off. Just last week, the school announced that it has stopped breeding golden retrievers and other dogs to torment them in hideous experiments! This mean that no more dogs will be born just to suffer in the university's MD laboratory. This is great progress, but we must stop the experiments on the dogs already at TAMU—and promote modern, non-animal research methods that will keep dogs and other animals from being abused and killed in laboratories. Your donation today will be matched, strengthening PETA's vital work and keeping the pressure on TAMU and other institutions to end painful, deadly experiments. If we meet our challenge goal, PETA will have a whopping $1 million to put toward our work to end TAMU's cruel dog tests and to help all animals who are suffering at the hands of experimenters. We know we can reach our goal—but we need your help to do it. Thank you for your compassion and for everything that you do for animals.
