From the moment Joe Biden was officially declared the President-elect, the GOP has carried out a shameful and baseless effort to throw out millions of valid ballots and overturn the election's unambiguous results. As I write today the Electoral College has voted all around the country to certify Joe Biden's clear and decisive victory.

I want to be clear: There isn't an inch of legal footing on which the GOP can stand. Their effort to invalidate the 2020 election results is a brazen attempt to nullify the will of the American people – and disenfranchise millions in the process – because things didn't go their way. It's a dangerous attack on our democracy that highlights a political agenda that is rotten to its core. They will not succeed.

But the people who are carrying out this authoritarian strategy are the same people who are already working shamelessly to tighten their hold on Congress in 2022. I know you have worked so hard and given so much to get us to today. Yet, we must fight to stop the GOP from their stated goal to flip Connecticut's Senate seat red and expand their majority even further in 2022. With everything from voting rights to healthcare to the future of our democracy on the line, failing to protect this seat is not an option.
