In 2020, the American Immigration Council filed over 10 legal challenges with our partners to stop attacks on our immigration system across the country.

Here are 3 lawsuits that you will directly support with your donation:

• Stopping Customs and Border Protection’s policy of wrongfully turning back asylum seekers at the border.
  
  Thousands of people can now apply for humanitarian protection despite the government’s attempts because of litigation brought by the Council and our partners at the Center for Constitutional Rights, the Southern Poverty Law Center, and Mayer Brown. But the government continues to challenge favorable court rulings.
   
• Challenging Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s alarming practice of blocking phone calls between attorneys and their clients in detention.
  
  This case could stop the denial of access to counsel for hundreds of people in detention. The government continues to try to justify its due process violations—but the Council and our partner, Orrick, are keeping up the fight in court.
• Holding the government accountable for failing to provide people with their own immigration records.
  
  U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and ICE have failed to provide individuals with their immigration records—known as A-files—within deadlines set by the law. These records are needed for individuals to make their case in court—and the Council is holding the government accountable along with our partners at National Immigration Litigation Alliance, the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, and the Law Offices of Stacy Tolchin.

The Council can only fight in the courts because of the generosity of people like you who believe in a fair and just immigration system.
