I want to extend my congratulations to Rep. Marcia Fudge, who was recently
appointed to President-elect Biden's cabinet as the Secretary of Housing
and Urban Development.

When it comes to housing, Ben Carson and the Trump administration have
done an unimaginable amount of damage. Rep. Fudge's appointment gives me
hope that we can start to undo this damage and move forward.

[ [link removed] ]There's a lot of work to be done, and I'm ready to hold future
Secretary Fudge accountable towards housing justice. That's why I've come
up with six demands around housing. Will you read them and join me by

As a first step toward a future of housing justice, Fudge must:

 1. Immediately remove HUD's racist "Mixed Status" Rule.
 2. Reinstate and strengthen the Affirmatively Further Fair Housing Rule.
 3. Reinstate the 2016 Equal Access Rule and protect LGBTQ access to
shelter and housing.
 4. Commit to ending homelessness through supportive housing, tenant
protections, and social housing.
 5. Reinstate the Disparate Impact Rule as a step towards banning
discriminatory housing policies.
 6. Advocate for policies that support families struggling through the
pandemic, including rent/mortgage cancellation and a comprehensive
eviction moratorium.

Again, I want to emphasize that it's going to take a lot of work to undo
the damage that the current administration and HUD have created upon our
communities and families. But with these demands — and by continuing to
organize together — we can begin that process.

sure that we can live in a society where our legislation reflects that
right. I believe that these demands are a good starting point, and I hope
