Nearly 37,000 people have sent letters to their U.S. Senators demanding a bipartisan COVID-19 relief package that includes $600 unemployment insurance, housing and food assistance, and aid for state and local services. If Congress does not act this week, it will leave millions of people and families in desperate need this winter. Take action and write to your U.S. Senators today!

John,
Last week, we were starting to feel encouraged when a bipartisan group of Senators proposed a COVID relief package. But Mitch McConnell continues to preside over a caucus that seems prepared to do the unthinkable.
Instead of doing their job and passing a critical COVID relief package to help millions of people who are struggling during the pandemic, Mitch McConnell and Senate leadership are making it ever more clear that they don't care about the urgent needs of families in every state of our country who are falling through the cracks during this terrible pandemic.
We have urgent needs in our country. We need disaster relief.
Take a look at some of these tragic statistics that represent the suffering of millions of people throughout our country.
-
1.28 million. The number of unemployment claims for the week ending Dec. 5 — a shocking 27 percent increase from the previous week.
-
9.2 million. The estimated number of renters that have lost employment income during the pandemic and are falling behind on rent.
-
5 - 20%. How much states will be cutting funds for services from public health and safety to delivering unemployment insurance in 2021 if Congress does not provide more aid.
-
2,923 & 49%. There were 2,923 COVID deaths in the United States on Dec. 10 — up a stunning 49% from 2 weeks before.
The number of people suffering during this pandemic is truly astonishing — and tragic. John, will you join the tens of thousands of people who have already sent a letter to their Senators demanding they act and pass a critical relief package that will help our essential workers, low income-people, and the many millions who are slipping backward during this pandemic? We need policies that support our children. We need policies that support our state and local governments so more people don't get laid off and our communities don't lose essential services.
And, if we don't have a Congress that will do the critical work necessary — we need to hold them accountable. We need to demand they finally act on behalf of the American people. And this begins in the U.S. Senate where Mitch McConnell and his caucus have failed to act.
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage throughout our country, unchecked. While cases are surging, millions of people are teetering on an economic cliff. By December 26th, 16 million people will have lost unemployment benefits. And on New Year’s Eve, the eviction moratorium expires, forcing struggling families from their homes.
Join CHN, our national coalition, and the 37,000 people from throughout our country who have written to their U.S. Senators demanding action to pass comprehensive COVID relief. Tell them we are facing a national emergency and public health crisis that requires immediate action.
Thank you for all you do to demand accountability from our political leaders and to fight for the needs of the vulnerable, the sick and the poor.
