The Supreme Court has rejected the bid by Pennsylvania Republicans to overturn President-elect Joe Biden’s win. This is great news; it means that SCOTUS has refused to overturn the results of our democratic election, an incredibly low bar to begin with.
Joe Biden has won the ultimate election legal battle, but Republicans (like Ted Cruz, who offered to argue the case himself) are continuing to spew blatant lies. So we’re writing to you -- because we need your help fixing our country and restoring the democratic norms that the GOP has shattered.
Trump packed his administration with loyalists and ideologues who were hell-bent on undermining the departments they ran. Trump’s cronies have tried their hardest to erode reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ equality, and public health guidelines.
Now that Joe Biden is president-elect, we have a chance to reverse the damage Trump has done. But now it’s time to ensure that progressive values shine through in a Biden administration and that Trump’s officials aren’t allowed to stay on as part of a harmful attempt to compromise.
But President-elect Biden has been vetting Republicans for his cabinet and other top posts, and that makes us nervous. So does the fact that Mitch McConnell could veto any progressive choice Biden nominates. We need to make it clear that Americans have had it with the GOP running roughshod over our government, our rights, and our very lives.
Right now, however, we don’t have the funds we need to push for progressive people and priorities in the next administration.
