John

Thank you to everybody who came out for yesterday’s global climate strike! You, and millions of people around the world, marched to mark the deadly inaction of the world’s governments. In San Francisco, we did so with a special urgency, since our elected voice in Washington has been impeding robust solutions to the climate crisis. That’s why thousands of us came out to participate.

Today’s climate movement is increasingly led by young people who aren’t afraid to confront the facts of the science head on, and speak clearly about what needs to be done. Unfortunately, as time runs out for substantive action and a just transition, elected leaders continue to drag their feet and fail to live up to the needs of our moment.

We know what Nancy Pelosi said about the Green New Deal: she called it a “green dream,” and said “nobody knows what it is, but they’re for it, right?” Well “they” are the young people and their allies, and we know exactly what we’re fighting for: our planet and their future.

We need to make a full transition away from fossil fuels and to 100% renewable energy within the next 10 years.

We need to fight to keep those fossil fuels in the ground.

And we need to ensure that we do so in a way that creates millions of new, good paying green jobs with a federal jobs guarantee.

The end of the world is a fight worth having, and we’re in it to win it. Defeating Nancy Pelosi will send a clear message that we’re serious about it, and with your help we can make that a reality.

That’s why I need you to ask you to chip in to make sure we win this fight.

Climate change is creating plenty of irregular weather, and with that comes storms. Let’s give them one to remember.
