COVID-19 has disproportionately affected Black, Brown and Native American people and communities. NCRC research helped the nation understand why.

• We showed that the prevalence of chronic diseases and other risk factors for serious illness and death from coronavirus is higher in neighborhoods that suffered from 20th Century redlining.
• We conducted mystery shopper tests that showed discrimination and disencouragement of potential Black and Hispanic borrowers within the Paycheck Protection Program. 
• We showed that most of the 5 million small business loans issued under the PPP program went to businesses in predominantly White, wealthy neighborhoods.

NCRC research is essential reading for policymakers, community leaders and regulators who are supposed to enforce and champion the nation's fair lending and fair housing laws.
