Hi there —
A few weeks ago, I sent around a short survey and I've loved reading the responses from this incredible team. It’s so critical that we set our priorities together, and your feedback is so important for the difficult work ahead.
I’m grateful to those of you who took the time to send in your thoughts. And for folks like Katherine, Ellen, Heather, and countless others — thank you for trusting me with your stories.
I wanted to share some of the things I learned that will help shape our work in the coming weeks and months:
Most of you are rightly concerned about the COVID-19 pandemic and giving American families the support they need at this time.
I want you to know that tackling this unprecedented public health crisis and providing the support and relief families need to make it through this pandemic are my top priorities. Just as they are yours. Together, I know we can get through this — and I’ll keep working my tail off in Washington to ensure we do.
Several of you wrote in about the importance of tackling the climate crisis, especially when it comes to preventing future global pandemics.
Let there be no doubt: Climate change is a real, immediate, and growing threat to national security, public health, and our economy. As a member of the Special Committee on the Climate Crisis, I understand that bold climate action will create millions of new jobs, grow the American economy, and improve people’s lives across the country — and that’s exactly what I’m fighting for in the Senate.
But the number one issue for the majority of folks who filled out my survey is protecting and expanding quality, affordable health care.
Like 133 million Americans, I know what it's like to have the label "pre-existing condition" attached to my health care, and before the Affordable Care Act was passed, many of us could be denied coverage. That’s why I’m working day-in and day-out to end GOP attacks on the law — and I won’t back down without a fight.
Your feedback means the world to me because these responses (and especially your personal stories!) tell me exactly how I can best fight for you in Washington. I’m so grateful to have your voice on this team.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and stories with me.
— Tammy
P.S. If you haven’t taken the survey yet, or if you just want to reach out again because you thought of something else, I’m still reading responses — and I would love to hear from you. You can share your top priorities with me right here:
