Hi friend --

Only 29% of Republicans think the election was free and fair, and 45% of voters who strongly support Trump believe the election will be overturned, according to a December Morning Consult poll.

There used to be an understanding in this country: Candidates would face off against each other, tempers would get high, one would win, and the other would concede. It’s called democracy. But Donald Trump and his enablers would set our system of government ablaze if it meant a victory over progressives. They’ve abandoned what it means to be Americans.

Joe Biden won with a powerful mandate and the most votes any presidential candidate has ever received. He has called for a “time to heal” in America, and maybe a time to heal is possible. If we lower the temperature, have less of Donald Trump on our television screens and Twitter feeds, and work together to make progress on the pandemic and the economy, we might just be able to see each other as fellow Americans again.

But right now, that’s the last thing Donald Trump wants. He wants to paint us as radical leftists trying to steal the election from the American people. He tried to launch legal efforts to try to keep control even after losing. And many of the minds behind George W. Bush’s Supreme-Court-declared presidency in 2000 were helping Trump.

We want to stand against these efforts and oppose them every way we can. We want to educate and activate everyday Americans, throw our full weight behind progressive leaders and legislation, and see Joe Biden take office next year -- while Trump skulks back off to Mar-a-Lago to await a call from the IRS about his taxes.

But our funds are low. We just helped win a massive victory for Democrats -- which means many of our supporters have been lulled into a false sense of security and stopped giving. The fact is, this isn’t over.

If you understand as well as we do that Donald Trump is a threat so long as he sits behind the Resolute Desk, then give what you can now to support our efforts. We can’t thank you enough for continuing to fight on even after the election. We know your sustained commitment now will be the reason we succeed.

 

If you want to see progressive leaders like Joe Biden and Kamala Harris take office next year, if you oppose Trump and his allies’ efforts to steal the election, if you’d like to stand up for democracy when it’s most threatened, then please, give what you can now.
