Why It’s Bad: Trichloroethylene (TCE) is a widely used toxic chemical that can cause cancer and damage to the liver, kidneys, and the immune, central nervous, and endocrine systems. We can be exposed to it through inhalation, the consumption of food or beverages in its vicinity, from the soil, and from our drinking water.
What We’ve Done: Working with Clean & Healthy New York and the Just Green Partnership, we helped pass a bill (S6829B Kaminsky/A7939C Englebright) banning the use of TCE in New York State.
What You Can Do: The Governor has until Dec. 23 to sign this bill into law. If you are a New York State resident, click on the link below to send a letter to the Governor’s office asking him to sign the bill, giving New Yorkers the gift of one less toxic chemical in our environment.
