Imagine, John, 1.6 million acres of beautiful, untouched-by-industry wilderness DECIMATED. Polar bears, caribou and 200 species of birds wiped out. Indigenous
communities uprooted, their sacred ways of life robbed of them.
In a matter of months, this could be reality within the Arctic National Wildlife
Refuge: The Trump administration's Department of the Interior is auctioning off
this protected land – America's largest national wildlife refuge – for oil drilling.
We know all too well the havoc fossil fuel companies will wreak if they secure
leases to the refuge. Not only could there be toxic oil spills, but the drilling
would cause unsustainable levels of air and water pollution and huge amounts of
carbon emissions, hurtling us closer to climate catastrophe.
Make no mistake, John – this could be among the largest and most damaging notches in Donald Trump's
belt of environmental destruction. We are counting on people like you to use
your voice and DEFEND the Arctic Refuge before it's too late. Indigenous
communities like the Gwich'in and Inupiaq, who have long relied on the natural
resources the refuge provides, could lose their way of life if we don't act
fast.
This is a matter of environmental justice. And we still need 13 more people from
xxxxxx to take our urgent poll before the 11:59 p.m.
deadline, including you. The poll expires at midnight, and we can't keep it
open, so don't miss your chance to make an impact:
Should the Department of the Interior be allowed to auction off the drilling
rights to America’s last large untouched wilderness?
