Save the Children Action Network is the political voice for kids.

Dear John,

I wanted to make sure you saw Santiago’s powerful message below.

As a mother, I can’t imagine how other moms feel as they were separated from the children. And I understand why they fled to the U.S. to try to protect their kids from violence back home.

This policy was inhumane and President-elect Biden has pledged to overturn it. But we must hold him to his promise and also urge Congress to investigate these violations of human rights.

Will you act to protect children seeking safety in the U.S.?

President-elect Joe Biden and Congress must replace our cruel asylum policies at the U.S. border as one of their first priorities. Send a message today – we must protect children seeking safety in our country!

Dear John -

On the campaign trail, President-elect Biden promised to repeal the harmful policies that put the safety of children at the border at risk.

In recent years, children fleeing violence in their home country were treated cruelly and inhumanely.

They were separated from their parents.

They were detained much longer than the legal limit.

They were denied asylum without a hearing, which violated U.S. law.

It will take years to repair the damage inflicted upon these children. But we can make a new start today.

Send a message to President-elect Biden and your members of Congress – we must protect children seeking safety in the United States!

President-elect Biden has said he will overturn many of President Trump’s cruel policies at the U.S. border during his first days in office.

Now we need to hold him to his promise, and ensure Congress investigates these violations of human rights.

We need to ensure that every child who was separated from their parents is reunited. And we must ensure that family separation is never repeated.

We need to ensure that children are not held by border agents for extended periods of time. Recent reports show that a one-year old baby was detained for over two weeks – an absolutely shocking way of treating a child.

And we need to use alternatives to detention for kids and families while they await trial. Programs like the Family Case Management Program are more humane and more effective as asylum seekers in the program showed up for their court hearings more than 99% of the time.[1]

Send a message to President-elect Biden and your members of Congress – we must build back better for children seeking safety in the U.S.!

Thank you for being a voice for kids,
